wow2025 Store Tour

Every January, Ian Jindal selects the stores that really “wowed” in New York City. These stores combine place, product, people and process into a ‘retail alchemy’ that makes them worth a special visit. 

You can see the “long list” of stores worth walking to at the NRF 2025 list  but these stand out. A couple are new for 2025 and some were “wow” last year and retain (or increase!) their magic.

The recent refurb expands the store into a gentlemen's-club-vibe location for this near decade-old Queens brand. Their zeitgeist-fuelled take on the 1990s goes from the street to Bill Clinton.

Minimal, spacious, architectural embodiment of a tech-first high-performance athletic footwear brand.

Arc’teryx Alpha Store
New format flagship for this high-end outdoor tech brand, comprising full range, generous space, cafe, repair, recycling and resale in a two-floor Broadway base.

Confident, swish, if off-the-track setting for this luxury second-hand handbag operation - luxurious lounge meets science lab and robot warehouse. A must-see.

Gentle Monster
Eyewear brand whose stores are like art popups. Consistently collaborative (on projects, co-brands, celebrities and artists), the brand produced prescription and sunglass styles that are not repeated.

Gymshark
A pop-up store for winter 2024-5 in the heart of Soho. A "locker-room" fit-out and plenty of red vinyl is in keeping with the brand's values. The store blends NYC-specific products with promotions.

A warm glowing Federal-style corner plot that oozes Provencal light onto a prestigious corner plot. A minimal home-meets-museum for this stripped back spectacle in French stone and light.
