NRF 2026 Store TOUR

For the last decade Ian Jindal has researched and visited stand-out stores in New York City – one of the global retail capitals. From Soho to the Meatpacking via 5th Avenue and the Lower East Side, here is our list of the must-see stores. We look for “Retail Alchemy” – where people, products, process and place create a magical experience, filtered through the eyes of experienced European retail execs who, frankly, have seen most things already in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore… What gets through this filter is worth a detour at least or a special trip for the annual ‘hot list’. Register for free access and you’ll see the database, along with store reviews, analysis and tours.

FILTER STORE BY

These are the stores that are worth a walk. Each, a destination. Each s store that creates “retail alchemy” (where product, place, people and process spark something greater than the sum of their amazing parts). For the seasoned European exec, these stores are stand-out exemplars. They are “only in New York”, “better in New York”, or given an inspiring twist. Filter by area to save shoe leather, or by type for a focused boost, or just pick the ones that appeal to you.
Props to Petco for being the brand-defining store for the third year running; Arcteryx, Skims,  Printemps and Louis Vuitton for the glamour of a flagship; Nike’s House of Innovation for maintaining its energy; Crocs, Stone Island, Rimowa and Dyson’s brand stores, and NYC wonders like Fashionphile, the Pike store, the incredible Locavore and the Pop Up Grocer… Be sure to send feedback, tips and your “wow” stores to [email protected]
