In a nutshell

Two stores, focused on high-end, specialist stationery, writing and graphic materials. Evoking and supporting the joy of writing, journalling, drawing... from a cosy desk. A joyous specialist store with products from Europe, the US and Japan.

In their words

"Curated stationery, writing instruments, desks accessories, lamps & more"

Brand Background

Goods for the Study is owned and operated by Sarah McNally, who is also the founder of the renowned New York independent bookstore McNally Jackson. The two retail concepts are closely linked: Goods for the Study was launched as a sister brand to McNally Jackson and shares both ownership and a complementary philosophy.

McNally Jackson is a beloved NYC bookstore with several locations, and Goods for the Study was conceived to extend the McNally Jackson experience into the world of curated stationery and desk goods. The stores sometimes share physical proximity (such as adjacent or nearby storefronts) and often co-promote literary and creative goods, underscoring their shared commitment to quality, community, and intellectual curiosity.

In 2025 McNally Jackson opened a new store at 1 Rockefeller Plaza, featuring a last space at the front of the store and window branded as Goods for the Study, stocking a range of stationery and cards.
